Individual game ideas

For my next Game Making project I have to prototype an individual game idea. I had decided to begin with that I wanted to do a kids based game as I wanted the challenge of catering to a specific market. So I brain stormed off of that to help me get started.

The first idea I came up with was to replicate the carnival game of fishing for rubber ducks for prizes. That would be the basis of the game but I would have to incorporate cards or a board game to add to the narrative.

The second idea is to do a version of Chinese whispers where someone starts with the secret and one person is randomly chosen to change it up and so once the secret gets back to the original person they would have to guess who changed it.

And the third idea was trivia where parent are put against kids to answer questions about kids TV shows. For example characters names and the lyrics to songs etc.

After thinking through how the narrative for each one would work I have decided to go with the initial idea, which is a game based off of the fishing for ducks games that they usually have at carnivals. I haven’t completely sorted out the narrative but it will be a matter of each kid having a turn a fishing for a miniature duck in a little pool you fill with water and the number on the bottom corresponding to a prize. The winner would be the player with the most prizes at the end. I still have to figure out how to make this game a little more interesting without adding strategy because it can get complicated with such a young audience.
